[Also in Groups XXII and XXXIV] A method of securing the outer race A of a bearing in a housing B provided with a circumferential groove b<SP>2</SP>, comprises the application of a truncated, conical, continuous-ring C to the surface of the bearing, deforming and forcing the ring into the groove b<SP>2</SP>, and pressing the ring flat therein. A bearing may be retained by two such rings C, one each side thereof.
