779,118. Impact crushers. KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AKT.-GES. Feb. 10, 1956 [Feb. 12, 1955], No. 4237/56. Class 59 An impact crusher particularly for use below ground comprises a rotor 1 the shaft 3 of which is supported outside the crusher casing 4 in bearings 5 which rest on a base frame consisting of longitudinal and transverse beams 7, 8, the base frame also carrying the crusher casing which has lateral walls 9 provided with open ended slots 30 surrounding the rotor shaft and has a detachable front end wall formed by two plates 17, 18 which are held in position by means of ledges 21, 22 provided on the walls 9. The walls 9 also have recessed portions 10 the edges 11 of which rest on the transverse beams 8. The lower portions 15 of the walls 9 between the portions 10 are secured to the beams 7 by means of screws 16. The walls 9 are connected together by means of tie rods 27, 28 and a wall 57. The plate 17 has a bar 23 which rests on the plate 18. The slots 30 are closed by means of members 31 secured to the base frame. A plate 24 provided with an opening 25 and held in position by means of ledges 26 on the walls 9 may also be provided. When it is desired to dismantle the casing to enable the rotor to be repaired, the screws 16 and tie rods 27, 28 are first removed. Then, the plates 17, 18 and 24 are pulled out successively along their ledges by means of a crane the hoisting rope of which is engaged with hoops 33, 34 provided on the plates 17, 18 and with the opening 25 in the plate 24. After this, the casing, the walls 9 of which are provided with hooks 37, is raised by means of the crane with the lower edges of the walls 9 lie just above the rotor shaft 3, when the casing is shifted to the right to expose the rotor To enable the rotor to be removed, the bearings 5 are provided with movable covers 38.
