861,385. Casting channelled concrete structures. BRUCE, H. H. June 20, 1957 [June 20, 1956], No. 19051/56. Class 87(2). [Also in Group X] Means for casting channels of dovetail section in concrete structures comprises a strip 1 of flexible, compressible material (e.g. rubber) having a hollow core 11 and a cross-section of substantially single dovetail form. The strip is secured to shuttering 3, e.g. by means of saddles 7, and concrete is then poured over the assembly. In order to facilitate removal of the strip from the cast concrete and prevent the formation of sharp edges at the mouth of the channel, which edges would damage the strip at the time of its removal, the bottom parts of the narrow side of the strip are provided with outwardly directed ribs 12.
