Abstract
778,996. Glass working. EIJKENBOOM, J. H. Jan. 10, 1956 [March 11, 1955], No. 910/56. Class 56 [Also in Group XXX] In the making of ampoules wherein a length of glass tubing 28 is fed from a magazine 24 to a rotatable work-holder 1 on a turret 7 rotated about an axis a through a number of stations, a feeler is provided for sensing the absence of tubing from the holder and operating the magazine to deliver a fresh length to the holder whenever it is empty. The feeler comprises a roller 9 which when the chuck 2 fully closes is lowered, by spring 6, into contact with a cam 10; this operates a lever 11, linkage 17, lever 19 and ratchet mechanism 21, 23 to rotate the magazine and cause the next length of tubing to be discharged through an aperture in a stationary plate 27 into the work holder.
