Abstract
908,153. Spinning. NOURY, M., and NOURY, R. April 6, 1960 [April 6, 1959]. No. 12216/60. Class 83 (4). A lathe for spinning metal comprises a tool to act against the metal in successive passes, and an automatic control device for the tool consisting of guide means defining a series of separate tracks and follower means connected to the tool for following each of said tracks in turn whereby the position of the tool at any point in each pass is defined by the corresponding guide path. The tool operates on a workpiece 2 clamped to a former 1 and is mounted on a carriage 4 provided with a cam follower 7 for engaging successively cams A, B, C, D and E carried on a support 8. As soon as a pass has been completed on one of the cams the cam support 8 automatically brings the next cam opposite the follower 7. The cams allow the tool to effect a return travel while in working contact with the workpiece.
