Abstract

<PICT:0866958/III/1> Liquid in a container 76, Figs. 8 and 9, is transferred from a supply roller 75 to a moistening roller 77 by a transfer roller 74 comprising two parts 74a, 74b slidable along a shaft 91 by means of fork levers 72, 73, copy sheets 32 being moistened only in areas axially aligned with the roller parts 74a, 74b. The part 74a is displaced axially by rotating a guide spindle 50 engaging a sliding nut 49 attached to the lever 72. The part 74b is displaced stepwise one step for each revolution of a printing drum 1, by means of a cam 78, roller 79, levers 80 and 81, switching pawl 60 and locking pawl 59 under the action of a torsion spring arrangement acting through a chain 56, and a rack 55 attached to the lever 73. A lever 82 can be operated to prevent the automatic stepping.
