Abstract

<PICT:0837818/III/1> <PICT:0837818/III/2> In a duplicating machine (see Group XVI), a moistening device 109, Fig. 8, is pivoted into contact with a copy sheet 5 at selected times by an electromagnet 113. The circuit for the magnet is completed only when (a) a slide contact 112 is in contact with a contact disc 111, which occurs when the master sheet 1 is partly under a series of sensing contacts F20-F25, and (b) one of the sensing contacts touches the periphery of the drum through a perforation in the master sheet. In another form, Fig. 13, a moisture applying roller 126 is pivoted into contact with a copy sheet 5 by an electromagnet 120. The magnet is similarly controlled by a contact disc 117, sliding contact 118 and sensing contacts F26-F31. In both forms, on each revolution of the drum 4, a cam 49 acts on a rod 47 through a pawl and rack mechanism to move a contact slide 16 into engagement with a successive sensing contact, only one such contact being operative during each revolution.
