Abstract
778,464. Screw cap closures. CHRISTIANSSON, B. G. Aug. 9, 1955 [Aug. 19, 1954 ; Dec. 20, 1954], No. 22954/55. Class 125(3). A screw cap 1 for bottles &c. which cannot be opened by children has an outer casing 3 rotatably mounted on a pivot 2 and separated from the cap by a spring 4 the casing and cap having projections 6 and recesses 7 respectively which only engage to allow the cap to be turned when pressure is applied to compress spring 4. In a modification the skirts of the cap and casing carry interengageable teeth or shoulders. In a further modification, Fig. 6, the spring 4 consists of a circular plate of which the peripheral portion is shaped to form four leaf springs 10 which engage the grooves 7 as the cap is screwed on but snap over when rotated in the reverse direction unless pressure is applied to engage the projections 6 with the grooves, the projections 6 passing through holes in the plate spring so that it rotates with the casing. A sealing member 13 is anchored to a pivot 12.
