Abstract
777,883. Lasts; boots &c. MOBBS & LEWIS, Ltd. April 4, 1955, No. 9785/55. Classes 17 (1) and 17 (2). The median plane 33, 34, 35 of the cone of a last passing through the longitudinal central axis 29 is inclined upwardly and outwardly at an angle between approximately 2 to 5 degrees from a central plane 25 passing vertically through that axis, and the bottom surfaces of the heel and shank portions are inclined downwardly from the inner to the outer sides. A line 40 connecting the widest points of the heel portion makes an angle of between about 2 and 5 degrees with a horizontal plane 38 through the central axis. The longitudinal central axis extends between a point 24 at the toe adjacent the break between portions corresponding to the sole and upper, and lies substantially parallel to a plane tangential to the bottoms of the heel and forepart portions and midway between vertical lines 18, 19 tangential to the sides of the heel and forepart at their widest points when the shoe rests on a horizontal surface with its heel raised to the height specified for the last. Shoes shaped on such lasts prevent pronation.
