777,188. Surgical syringes. HERTIG, W. July 21, 1955 [March 7, 1955], No. 21200/55. Class 81(2) A plunger syringe in which the syringe cylinder 4 is introduced into a housing 1 through an end opening and constrained within the housing 1 by a closure piece 3, and in which a needle holder 2 is inserted between the other end of the housing 1 and the cylinder 4 is characterized by the provision of resilient braking means between the cylinder 4 and the housing 1 to prevent the cylinder 4 and the needle holder 2 sliding out of the housing 1 when the closure piece 3 is removed. The braking means consists of inwardly bent strips 10, Fig. 2, formed between axial slits 9 in the housing 1 or by a polygonally-bent wire 8 inserted between the cylinder 4 and the housing 1. In an alternative construction in which windows 11, Fig. 3, are provided in the housing 1, narrow strips 12 between the windows are inwardly bent or are provided with drop-shaped or oval indentations for gripping the cylinder 4. The cylinder 4 is made of glass and the other parts of metal.
