Abstract

A joint filling or floor covering composition comprises a heterogeneous mixture of a tar and 6 to 17,5 per cent by weight of a vinyl chloride resin present as discrete particles dispersed in the tar but not gelled by it. Pitch and fillers e.g. cork, rubber, limestone, brick dust or asbestos may also be present. The composition which is non-elastic at room temperature is convertable to an elastic solid at room temperature by heating to e.g. 120 DEG -140 DEG C., when it becomes homogeneous and forms a gel on cooling.
