774,686. Electric correspondence control systems. BOULTON PAUL AIRCRAFT, Ltd. Jan. 7, 1955 [Jan. 11, 1954], No. 722/54. Class 40 (1). Apparatus for locating a work-table 1 in a desired position comprises a servomotor 3 driving a lead screw 2 to which is fixed the worktable 1 and a cam 4 co-operating with a transducer 5 feeding the motor 3 via an amplifier 6, whereby the motor drives the lead screw 2 until the transducer output is eliminated, this corresponding to the desired position of the table 1. The amplifier 6 is phase-sensitive to determine the direction of motion of the motor 3 and table 1. The cam 4 may contain more than one null point, switch contacts associated with the cam providing a bias signal to the motor 3 outside the appropriate control region.
