Abstract

674,348. Electric correspondence control systems. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 18, 1950. [Jan. 28, 1949] No. 1315/50. Class 40 (i). A follow-up system wherein two shafts are maintained in positional correspondence, comprising an amplifier for the error signal with a negative feedback circuit to reduce the output impedance, and thereby reduce hunting of the driving motor, is characterized by the use of a 2-phase motor. As shown, Fig. 1, the error voltage developed in the 1-phase receiver winding 11 of a selsyn with rotation of the energized 1-phase transmitter winding 7 is amplified at 14, 15 and fed to a control winding 5 of a 2-phase motor 2, whose other winding 4 is connected to an independent A.C. supply. Resistances 24, 25 are connected across the control winding 5, and a feedback voltage is obtained from a tapping on resistance 25 and fed back to amplifier 14, thus reducing the output impedance of the complete amplifier circuit. The effect of this low impedance across the control winding 5 of the motor 2 is to increase the magnetic flux opposing the motion of the motor with independent motion thereof, thus introducing an anti-hunting force.
