An hydraulic fluid comprises at least 75 per cent of a mixture of a chlorinated diphenyl, a triaryl phosphate, e.g. tricresyl and trixylenyl phosphates, and a polymer of an ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid, e.g. homopolymers of alkyl acrylates and methacrylates in which the alkyl groups contain from 2 to 10 carbon atoms and copolymers with unsaturated substances such as styrene, butadiene and maleic acid esters.
