Abstract

774,243. Paper of high wet and dry strength &c. GRACE & CO., W. R. May 2, 1955 [May 11, 1954], No. 12670/55. Class 96. Paper, especially for artificial leather, is given high wet and dry strength, and high abrasiveresistance by impregnating it with latex, e.g. up to 30 per cent of butadiene-styrene, butadieneacrylonitrile, neoprene, or natural rubber, drying, and impregnating with e.g. 0.005 to 25.9 per cent of an organic isocyanate, e.g. mtolylene di-isocyanate, triphenylmethane triisocyanate, methylene bis-(4-phenyl isocyanate), octa-decyl isocyanate, alpha-naphthyl isocyanate, e.g. in toluene or other solvent. The latex may include a stabilizer, an anti-oxidant, and a dormant coagulant &c.
