Abstract
773,795. Aircraft brakes. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. May 11, 1955 [May 19, 1954], No. 14650/54. Class 4. [Also in Group XXXIV] In fluid pressure braking apparatus for jet aircraft incorporating a control valve mechanism 1 of the four unit type, are described in Specification 687,358 [Group XXIX], by which a supply pressure of about 3,000 p.s.i. is reduced by a valve 3 to a maximum of about 1,500 p.s.i. for control of the brakes when the aircraft is landing or is parked, the control lever 18 has three positions, an " OFF " position, a central position for normal operation, and a third position wherein the cable 14 is tensioned to cause the valve 3 to pass the full available pressure, of 3,000 p.s.i., so that the brakes are applied at the -maximum possible pressure, such pressure being used to hold the aircraft whilst the jet engine builds up to full thrust prior to take off.
