773.645. Saws. INGENIORSFIRMA SVEN FAGRELL AKTIEBOLAG. Sept. 26, 1955 [Sept. 30, 1954], No. 27367/55. Class 61. A hacksaw comprises a U-shaped frame 1, 2, 3 in combination with a storage magazine which houses a coiled continuous flexible sawblade 4 adapted to be withdrawn at intervals, as required, through a feed opening 5 provided in the wall of the magazine case. The magazine is in the form of an annular case 6 and cover 7 detachably connected to bracket plates 8, 9 which are connected by nuts and bolts to opposite sides of one .leg 3 of the hacksaw frame. Handle-forming members 10, 11 also keep the case 6 and cover 7 together. An annular disc 12 is rotatably mounted in the magazine 6, 7 to engage the toothing of the continuous saw blade 4. The opening 5 in the magazine is in alignment with sawblade gripping and tensioning means. One gripping device 13, 15, 17, 18, 19 is mounted on a tension screw 22 rotatably mounted in fixed relation to the frame leg 2 and the other gripping device 14, 16, 17, 18, 19 is rigidly connected to the frame leg 2. Each gripping device comprises an annular sleeve 13 or 14 in which is rotatably mounted a cylindrical body 15 or 16 formed with a slot 17 for the reception of the continuous saw blade 4. Each sleeve 13 or 14 is provided with a peripheral slot 18 through which a headed set screw 19 can be passed to screw into a tapped hole in the body 15 or 16 to clamp the sawblade in the slot 17 and to expand the body 15 or 16 into engagement with its sleeve 13 or 14 to prevent relative rotation of the body and sleeve. The tensioning screw 22 is journalled in the legs 20, 21 of a U-shaped bracket secured to the end of the frame leg 2. The screw 22 is also screw threadedly engaged in a nut formed by an extension 23 of the sleeve 13. The heads of the screws 19, 22 are formed with hexagonal recesses to receive a spanner 24 housed, when not in use, on the bracket plates 8, 9 (Fig. 2).
