[Also in Group XXIX] A valve device for use with waste pipes and drains comprises a housing 10 provided with an air admission aperture 13 and a ventilation pipe connection 18 connected by a passage containing a valve 25 which opens automatically when a vacuum occurs in the drain or waste so that air is admitted thereto and the liquid odour seals are not sucked away, and a second valve 16 which is normally open to permit the passage of air but closes automatically on its seat 14 when a backwash occurs in the drain or waste pipe. The valves are mounted in an insert 11, 12 secured to the housing 10 and the connection 18 by soldering 28, 29. A rim 30 on the insert prevents the valve 25 from being displaced. The cone type valve 25 may be replaced by a mushroom type of valve. Baffles 21 with serrated under surfaces are provided between the valves to promote condensation. Any condensate so formed collects in a well 31. A similar well 24 is arranged below the valve 25. The valve 16 which acts as a float has an apertured guide cylinder 19 guided by ribs 17 on the insert.
