Abstract

771,323. Vacuum cleaner handles. NEPTRIC, Ltd. July 19, 1955 [July 28, 1954], No. 21995/54. Class 61 A vacuum cleaner of the kind comprising a wheeled body housing suction producing means is fitted with a shaft-like handle formed in at least two sections 15, 16, these sections being so coupled together that they can be moved from an end-to-end operative position to the folded position shown, i.e. side by side whilst remaining coupled. Locking means, carried by the handle, are provided for locking adjacent sections in their erected positions. The, two sections of the handle shown are pinned at 19 to ferrules 18 which are joined by a link 21. The locking means consists of a sleeve 23 slidable on the section 15 from the position shown to one in which it abuts against a shoulder 24 on the section 16. In this position the sleeve, which has a sliding fit on the section 15 and on the ferrules, serves to hold the two sections in alignment.
