Abstract

771,137. Valves. NSU. WERKE AKT.- GES., and WANKEL, F. Jan. 18, 1955 [Jan. 18, 1954], No. 1540/55. Class 7 (6). [Also in Group XXVI] An internal combustion engine rotary valve having curved gas channels 8 and a cooling chamber 3 is formed by a cast or forged part 1 to which is connected in fluid tight manner a flat disc 2 providing a plane working surface. The disc 2 is preferably of nitrided steel and may be fixed to the part 1 by screws, rivets, welding or, preferably, by inert gas brazing. The coolant, which may be lubricating oil, is supplied to the chamber 3 through coaxial pipes 5 and 6, the outer of which is also a drive shaft for the valve.
