Abstract
770,715. Broaches. LAPOINTE MACHINE TOOL CO., Ltd. (Lapointe Machine Tool Co.). April 6, 1955, No. 10150/55. Class 83 (3). A broach comprises a number of duplicate cutters 40, 40a, a pair of holding-bars 20, 21 recessed to hold the cutters so that the edges approach the centre-line of the broach towards the final cutters, and means, such as wedges 22, 23, to adjust the bars to-and-from the centre-line. Each carbide plate-shaped cutter is clamped against a support-bar 51 by a screw 61 and is wedged in position by a block 65 secured by screws 66. Alternate cutters seat in recesses in the bar 51 so that the cutters alternately cut the bottoms and tops of the grooves in a fir-tree root of a turbine blade. All the cutters are identical, except for cutting clearance.
