Abstract

658,460. Broaches. LAPOINTE MACHINE TOOL CO., Ltd. (Lapointe Machine Tool Co.). Sept. 14, 1949, No. 23759. [Class 83 (iii)] A broach, particularly for forming the grooved roots of turbine blades, comprises a slide 10 having a longitudinal chip-clearing channel 15 and a series of separate cutters 24 which are adjustable in recesses 20 by screws 35 in end plates 30 and are held in position by screws 50 in cover plates 40. The cover plates are located and secured by dowel pins 42 and screws 46 and the cutter-securing screws 50 engage inwardly-sloping surfaces on the upper surfaces of the cutters.
