Abstract

741,796. Slitting tools. HAMPTON, Ltd., C. & J. Dec. 8, 1954 [Dec. 21, 1953], No. 35430/53. Class 31 (2). In a slitting tool of the type in which a base 10 provided with a handle 11 has an upstanding block 12 with an inclined face 13 against which a cutter blade 17 is secured by means of a clamping plate 15 and screws 16, the base 10 has a longitudinal slot 23, and the block 12, which extends to the slot, has a second face 24 against which a blade 27 is secured by means of a clamping plate 25 and screws 26. The slot 23 extends at each end beyond the face 24 and is provided at its front end with a sighting vee 28. The position of the cuts is gauged by means of a laterally adjustable fence 19. The clamping plates 15, 25 may be replaced by a single clamping plate.
