Abstract
749,741. Razors. PLESCH, P. H. Aug. 27, 1952 [Sept. 4, 1951], No. 20890/51. Class 30. A safety razor comprises a base clamping plate, an intermediate plate and a top plate clamped together and mounting a cutting member at opposite faces of the intermediate plate so as to provide, at one working edge of the intermediate plate, two cutting edges along lines inclined at a small angle to one another. As shown, base, intermediate and top plates 11, 13, 15, and wafer blades 12, 14 are clamped by a screw pin 17 engaging a threaded recess in the handle 16, locating pins 18 each having an inclined portion 19 which slew the blade 12 relatively to the blade 14 and ribs 21 on the intermediate plate 13 being inclined to the longitudinal edges of the plate and tapering in height so that the cutting edges of the blades are more widely spaced at one end. The cutting angles of the blades are determined by the ribs 21 and uniform ribs 23 on the top plate and can be varied by adjustment of the handle on the pin. the radiused end 27 of the handle allowing tilting and an index mark 26 assisting accurate adjustment. In a modification the wafer blades are replaced by cutting members received in recesses in the edges of a tapered intermediate plate.
