Abstract
770,582. Lifts. FANELLI, F. March 29, 1955 [March 31, 1954], No. 9092/55. Class 78(3). The winding mechanism for a lift or hoist comprises a pair of winches or traction pulleys 1, 2 operating on a single non-endless cable 3 which supports a car 7 through a pulley 6, the arrangement being such that the hoisting speed of the car can be varied by operating the winches either independently or simultaneously. In various modifications (not shown), (a) the counterweights 4, 5 are supported by pulleys in further bights in the cable, the ends of which are anchored adjacent the. winches (Figs. 2, 3); (b) the counterweights are replaced by auxiliary cars (Fig. 4); and (c) the winches are arranged at the bottom of the shaft (Figs. 9-12). The Specification describes an automatic electrical control system for operating such lifts in a multi-floor building.
