Abstract
770,544. Automatic gramophones. HANSEN, H. C. June 28, 1954 [June 30, 1953], No. 18913/54. Class 40 (2). In an automatic gramophone of the kind described in Specification 757,303 the pick-up arm 416 is provided with an inclined plane 430 and is normally resiliently held so that the upper edge 430a of said surface is above the plane of the lowermost record of the stack, so that upon engagement of the surface with the record, the pick-up arm yields and the record rides up the inclined plane 430 to engage the button 428. In one modification, Fig. 23, the button 442 is spring-loaded on the arm 416 and is provided with a conical skirt 440 which in effect replaces the inclined plane. In another modification, Fig. 25, the arm 416 is provided with a vertical surface 448 instead of a button, and the inclined plane is inclined in two planes, so that as the arm 416 swings inwardly to engage a smaller diameter record, the part of the surface 448 engaging the record is shallower in accordance with smaller thickness of a smaller diameter record.
