Abstract

In a rotary nozzle spinning device the spinning solution is metered by a gear pump and is then passed axially through one of the pump gears to the spinning nozzle, which rotates with such gear. A number of such combined pump and nozzle units may be associated together with a common drive and a common supply of spinning solution, to give yarns having a low twist, which are associated together into a bundle for liquid treatment, subsequently separated and then wound as individual yarns. As shown in Fig. 3, a transverse section of a single pump and nozzle unit, and, Fig. 2, front elevation of three such units, each pump consists of a pair of gears 47, 48 driven by gears 53, 57 from a common drive shaft 56. Spinning solution passes from supply pipe 61 and feed pipe 62 to header pipe 63 and thence to the inlet of each pump by a conduit 66. The pump outlet is connected to a U-shaped passage which terminates on the axis of pump gear 48 and there connects with an axial passage through the gear <PICT:0770236/IV(a)/1> <PICT:0770236/IV(a)/2> and through the projecting tube 70 to nozzle 73. The projecting tube 70 and nozzle 73 rotate with gear 48. The assembly of these units shown in Fig. 2 is pivotally supported on shaft 17 to facilitate inspection or replacement of the spinning nozzles.
