Abstract
769,115. Inserting an oversize member in a rubber sleeve. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Jan. 4, 1955 [Jan. 4, 1954], No. 247/55. Class 108(3). [Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVI] A method of applying a length of elastic tubing 2 over the conductor bar 1 of a dynamo electric machine comprises closing the ends of the tubing and inflating it, Fig. 2 (not shown), moving one end relative to an end of the bar 1 to cause the tubing to invert over the bar 1, Fig. 4, until the latter is disposed substantially within the outer wall 2a of the tubing, and releasing the inflation pressure so as to contract inner wall 2b on to the outer wall 2a, Fig. 5 (not shown). The tubing 2 is inflated by connection with a three-way valve 5 connected also to a source of pressure, and to atmosphere. The outer wall 2a may be supported, when inflated, by a sleeve 3 of woven fabric or wire braid material. A second and a third length of tubing may be successively applied by the same method. A finishing coating of woven glass fibre tape may then be applied. The tubing 2 may be of silicone rubber material. Specification 594,481 [Group IV], is referred to.
