Abstract

768,988. Roofing. McCREADY, W. B. May 6, 1955 [Dec. 13, 1954], No. 13202/55. Classes 20(4) and 87(1) A metal shingle is made by providing grooves 6, 7, 8, 9 of V or rounded section in the marginal edges of a rectangular blank A from which opposite corners 1, 2 have been removed and a portion 3 of the form shown, cut out to form a tongue 4. The margins are then folded over, two adjacent ones on one face of the blank and the remaining two on the opposite face of the blank, and the tongue 4 is bent up perpendicularly to the blank. A nail hole is provided at the corner where four thicknesses of material are produced and a sealing washer may be fitted between the folded margins. Fig. 6 shows the mode of assembly and Fig. 7 shows the interlock. The shingles may each be divided along a diagonal to form half shingles for infilling at the upper and lower parts of the roof.
