Abstract

537,108. Roofs; walls; floors. PLUMMER, H. L., and IRWIN, D. L. Nov. 7, 1939, No. 29580. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv)] Substantially flat sheets of metal or other material for roofs, walls, and the like of the kind in which one edge is provided with a plain flange 5 and the opposite edge with curved flange 3 so that edges of sheets in adjacent strakes interfit, and having intermediate re-inforcing ribs 2 the ends of which are shaped to interfit on adjacent sheets in the same strake have the width of the ribs substantially equal to the thickness of the stems of the fastening means which pass through the sheets and the locking means for the fastening means wholly located within the ribs. The fastening means shown are hooked shaped bolts 9 with slotted stems to receive ribbed wedges 12 which lie wholly within the ribs or the shanks of the bolts may be deflected over projections provided in the ribs. The outside of the sheeting is covered with bitumenized felt 14 or similar flexible waterproofing material.
