Abstract

768,876. Feeding webs. DUNGLER, J. April 1, 1955 [April 9, 1954], No. 9556/55. Class 100(1) An enclosure for continuously treating webs, especially textile webs, of the kind in which the web passes around a plurality of parallel guide rollers, is characterized in that the number and arrangement of rollers are such that the web passes several times over the rollers and the sum of the web paths over rollers where the web forms layers on top of previous layers is sub stantially equal in length to the sum of the paths over rollers where the web forms layers under previous layers. As shown an enclosure 1 has two series of guide rollers, comprising rollers 2, 3, 4, 5 and rollers 6, 7, 8, 9, all the rollers having equal diameters. Fabric 10 is guided around bars 11, 12 and in the direction of arrow 13 towards roller 5 and then around rollers 7, 2, 8, 3, 9, 4, 6. The fabric 10 then passes in the direction of the arrow 14 to form on the roller 5 a layer over that formed previously and, on the roller 7, a layer under that formed previously. The fabric passes around the enclosure 1 form ing alternate over and under layers at the successive rollers until on the last circuit the fabric passes around a bar 16 and ou of a slot 70. In a modification, Fig. 4 (no shown), the rollers on which the ove layers are formed are different in numbe and diameter to those on which unde layers are formed.
