Abstract

768,321. Metal strip guides. UNGERER, F. April 19, 1955, No. 11250/55. Class 83 (4). Moving metal strip 8 is guided by two link chains 6, 7 moving parallel to the strip, each link 13 of each chain having a recess 14 which receives and guides the adjacent side edge of the strip. The chains 6, 7 are moved at the same speed as the strip 8, e.g. by a drive derived from a metal working machine to which the strip is being fed, and acting through polygonal wheels 2. Members 9, 10 locate the links adjacent the strip. The surfaces of the recesses 14 are hardened and lubricated. The guide may be used for guiding strip passing through edgetrimming shears.
