701,599. Stone &c. sawing machine. PERRIER, F., and LEMOINE, G. April 13, 1951 [April 15, 1950; March 31, 1951], No. 8658/51. Class 124 In an endless chain saw for stone and like hard materials, the odd-numbered links 1 of the chain are constituted by two spaced parallel plates 1a between which the teeth of a driving pinion can engage, and the even-numbered links 2 by a single plate carrying an inwardly projecting lug 2a which engages between the teeth of the pinion, the chain moving along a slideway in a beam secured to a frame by yielding adjustable means. Some at least of the links 1 carry steel cutting tools 4, which may have successively different profiles, with hard inserts 4a such as of tungsten carbide ; hard inserts may also be provided on the bottom of the links to engage a friction strip on the bottom of the slideway. Means for supplying abrasive to the cutting part of the chain and subsequently removing it, and also a counterweight system for tensioning the chain, are described and illustrated. Guiding members may be positioned on the lower side of the beam to retain the chain in position.
