Abstract

767,873. Eddy-current brakes. COMPAGNIE TELMA. Dec. 17, 1954 [Dec. 21, 1953], No. 36617/54. Class 35. In an eddy current brake with the stator disposed between a pair of magnetic rotor discs, these discs have holes through which air is passed by fan blades, an annular baffle being provided on each disc on the radial face remote from the stator and forming a chamber into which open the holes in the rota discs. As shown in Fig. 1, the discs 1 have fans 5 for drawing air through holes 4, as shown by arrows f<SP>1</SP>, and fan 8 draws air over the stator 3, as shown by arrows f<SP>2</SP>. The air paths may be modified, as shown in Fig. 4. Each rota disc has guides for the air passing through holes 4, these being denoted by 6 and 10 in Figs. 1, 4 respectively.
