433,408. Electrical brakes. SARAZIN, R., Rue du Chateau de la Chasse, St.- Prix, and LAGACHE, A., 6, Boulevard Vercingetorix, Argenteuil, both in Seine-et-Oise, France. Nov. 14, 1934, No. 32795. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1933. [Class 103 (i)] An electrical brake comprises a flat rotor 44 rotating between pole-pieces 46, 47 which face each other and are carried by a stationary casing 42 completely surrounding the rotor and adapted to permit a circulation of air over the rotor. The braking effect is controlled by varying the current in the pole-pieces and thus the magnetic field. To cool the brake the rotor is in the form of a fan having curved blades 43 connected to a hub 41 and a rim 44 and orifices 50, 51 are provided for the inlet and outlet of air. In a modification the rotor consists of metal discs having radial slots which do not extend to the periphery nor to the central hole so that the contour of each slot forms a cased electric circuit. Fan blades are formed on the periphery of the disc. Further discs may be juxtaposed with these discs in which the radial slots terminate alternately at the periphery and the central hole.
