Abstract

A solid cementitious product is obtained by mixing cement, water and a water-soluble furane resin syrup and allowing to set. The resin syrup is hardened by adding a dilute acid before or after the cement has set. An aggregate may also be present. 5 to 10 per cent of the resin syrup relative to the cement is used and the resin may be a partially polymerised product derived from furfuryl alcohol with or without an aldehyde e.g. formaldehyde or furfuraldehyde, as described in Specification 721,889, [Group IV(a)].
