Abstract
872,642. Moulding processes. SULZER FRERES S.A. Aug. 11, 1958 [Aug. 15, 1957], No. 24747/58. Class 83 (1). A destructable pattern is made of urea and calcium carbonate and is dissolved out by an aqueous acid. The pattern may comprise up to 10% of polyvinyl alcohol or a minor amount of combustible fibres, e.g. cellulose fibres, which are subsequently burnt out. The acid may be dilute hydrochloric, sulphuric or phosphoric, and in vapour form. A mould mix comprises 2 litres ethyl silicate, 2 litres alcohol, 0.25 litres water, 5 c.c. hydrochloric acid and 18 kg. zirconium sand. Specifications 872,640, 872,641 and 872,643 are referred to.
