Abstract

767,297. Hair-waving appliances. BAUMEISTER, W. Oct. 26, 1953, No. 29474/53. Class 131. A hair curler comprises a body portion provided with two end caps which are movable towards each other and which are provided at their peripheries with comb teeth pointing towards each other. As shown, pins 3 on end caps 2 engage slots 4 in the body 1, the caps being slidable axially of the body so that teeth 5 of inwardly tapering cross-section are guided between correspondingly tapered guides 6 or, in a modification through bores in a collar, to secure a tress of hair coiled on the body. In further modifications the body consists of a cylindrical casing of textile fabric produced from horse hair and stiffened by wire springs and the toothed end caps are made of synthetic leather-like material, the end of the tress of hair being secured by a pivoted clamping member or by the overlapped ends of the cylindrical casing and the teeth being hooked in the coiled tress by stretching the casing lengthwise and then permitting it to contract.
