767,271. Fertilizer distributers. ROBOT AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY CO., Ltd. June 14, 1954 [June 12, 1953], No. 16213/53. Class 6(1). [Also in Group XXX] Apparatus for conveying solids, or distributing fertilizers, comprises an endless belt of L-section constituting one side wall. 14 and the bottom wall 13 of a trough, the other side wall 10 of the trough being constituted by a stationary member which, when used for distributing, has an upper edge or series of slots 11 which are made gradually lower with respect to the belt along the length of the trough. A pair of such conveyers for distributing fertilizer are carried on frameworks 4 pivoted at 3 to the ends of a cross bar 1 secured to the draft links of a tractor. A gear box 6 on the tractor is driven from a power take-off shaft 7 and has two output shafts each carrying a clutch element 5a arranged to engage with a mating clutch element 5 on each of the frames 4, when these are swung out transversely of the tractor, to drive the conveyers. Each endless belt travels within a casing consisting of a plate 17 and a cover member consisting of the wall 10 and an integral horizontal wall 12. The wall 13 of the belt works in a gap formed between the bottom of wall 10 and a support 16 whereby fertilizer 18 may be transported from a hopper 8 mounted on the casing. Conveyance is assisted by the provision of walls 15 at intervals along the belt forming compartments and also serving to clean the wall 10 by scraping action. Support 16 is perforated at intervals so that material finding its way between it and the belt does not jam the latter. Specification 767,272 is referred to.
