Abstract

767,257. Decoy aircraft. ELLIOT EQUIPMENT, Ltd. March 31, 1955, No. 9469/55. Class 4. A decoy aircraft comprises a first longitudinally extending envelope 2 adapted, when inflated, to represent a fuselage, and second and third aerofoil section envelopes adapted, when inflated to represent wings. The envelope 2 is divided into two sections 10, 12, Fig. 7, by a horizontal perforated strip 11 adhesively secured to the part 12 at 14 and 15 and by strips 16 to the part 10. Further sealing strips 17 are employed. Side panels 18 and 19 present an outer flat surface to simulate a fuselage. An envelope 20 formed of panels 21, communicates with envelope 2 and combines with panels 22, 23 to represent a cockpit. Each wing is formed by an envelope 35, opposing patches 36 on the inner surfaces being connected by lines 37, regulated in length to produce an aerofoil section. An outer cover 38 gives an undimpled appearance. Landing gear 4 and 5, drop tanks 7, air intake 8, jet pipe outlet 9, and empennage 3 are also represented. The model is supported by metal supports shown at 30, 31, further supports being placed under each wing.
