Abstract
767,129. Water gas; oil gas. POWER-GAS CORPORATION, Ltd. March 28, 1955 [April 8, 1954], No. 10319/54. Classes 55 (1) and 55 (2). Apparatus for selectively producing either a high B.Th.U. oil gas or carburetted water gas, comprises a first chamber to which can be supplied with coke, steam and air to serve as a generator in the making of carburetted water gas, a second chamber 36 into which hydrocarbon oil, steam and air can be passed to serve as a furnace reactor in the making of oil gas, a third chamber 12 having a spray for the injection of hydrocarbon oil and serving as a carburetter in the making of carburetted water gas or as a reactor in the making of oil gas, a fourth chamber 14 serving as a fixer in the making of the oil gas or a superheater in the making of the carburetted water gas, the third chamber being selectively in communication with either the generator 10 or the reactor 36. The apparatus is operated, cyclically for making both gases and in a modification the second chamber 36 is arranged alongside the third chamber 12. In a modification described in the Provisional Specification, the second chamber can be omitted and one chamber is used selectively as a generator or a furnace reactor for making carburetted water gas or oil gas respectively.
