A vehicle park, Fig. 1, formed of rows I-VIII of parking spaces includes platforms 1, 1<1> which can be moved around a rectangle formed by two parallel rows III, VI and the end spaces of the intermediate rows IV, V, one or two platforms being omitted from the rectangle. In the arrangement shown, a corridor 13 provides access to the moving platforms 1<1> which move along row III to provide access to rows II and IV of parking spaces and along row VI to provide access to rows V, VII of parking spaces. Further rows I, VIII of parking spaces for direct access are provided at the edges of the system. The platforms 1, 1<1> may be mounted on rollers running in tracks extending along the rows III, VI and the platforms may be propelled along the rows by pinions 7, Fig. 3, disposed in troughs 18 below the platforms and engaging racks 6, on the platforms. At the ends of the rows the rollers run on to endless chain conveyers by which the platforms are transferred between the rows. Couplings such as that shown at 12 in Fig. 3 connect the platforms during both senses of movement. Access may be provided from one or both sides of the system. More than two rows of parking spaces may be 'provided between the rows of moving platforms.
