Abstract

1,131,950. Endless conveyers. WAGGON-FABRIK JOS. RATHGEBER A.G. 5 Aug., 1966, No. 35092/66. Heading B8A. Alternate ones of a plurality of trolleys 1, 2 forming a contiguous surface of an endless conveyer are mounted on one of two pairs of guide rails 4, 5 wherein at a horizontal turn one of said pairs of guide rails is displaced vertically relative to the other to permit adjacent trolleys to overlap on their passage around the return pulley 9. The pairs of guide rails are of the same gauge but are displaced relative to each other a distance at least equal to the roller width and the vertical displacement at the turns is at least equal to the thickness of the rectangular plates forming the carrying surface of the trolleys. An endless link chain 7 running in a trough 11 drives the trolleys by means of upstanding pegs 12 engaging in a socket 14 on the underside of the trolleys. A socket 14 on each trolley is engaged by pegs 12 on an endless drive member to permit the relative vertical movements of the trolleys. The pegs 12 corresponding to alternate trolleys have a cap 16 to engage a lip 15 on the socket 14 whereby the endless drive member is partially supported by the trolleys. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the pairs of guide rails have different gauges and the straight portions of their runs are formed of flat strips which divide into the respective guideway at the turning points. The trolleys are preferably engaged by the endless chain at a point in front of their centre of gravity, e.g. in the direction of travel 17 of said trolleys. The conveyer can be used for transporting passengers.
