Abstract

1292739 Endless conveyers GORDON JOHNSON CO 1 Aug 1970 37264/70 Heading B8A An overhead endless conveyer includes a device 66 which deflects hanger assemblies 22 from their normal path of travel, the assemblies thereafter being guided by horizontally spaced rails 100, 102. The arrangement facilitates inspection of poultry suspended from shackles 27 of the assemblies 22. The device 66 comprises parallel linkage 62, 82, 84, 86 driven, via camming means 54, by engagement of wheel arms 40 with the hanger assemblies 22. A pair of vertically adjustable rods 88 presents an entrance mouth 90 and an outlet 92 for the assemblies 22, the outlet also comprising two vertically spaced divider plates 94, 96. One or other of two swingable fingers 68 forming an extension of the parallel linkage of the device 66 co-operates with the divider plate 94. Movement of an endless chain 30 in the direction 18 causes rotation of the wheel 40 and the camming means 54 thus causing the shackles 27 to be directed alternately to either side of a longitudinal support 14 for the hanger assemblies 22. Fig. 6 shows how stations B, C, D, each including a conveyer with pairs of rails 100, 102, permit inspection of each article 1, 2, 3.
