766,358. Double glazing. ROBINSON KING & BRITISH CHALLENGE GLAZING CO., Ltd., and WATERS, R. R.. May 2, 1955 [May 3, 1954], No. 12858/54. Class 20(3) - A double glazing or like structure in which glass panes 10, 24 or like panels are supported on glazing bars 11 which have on one or each side only a single glass supporting flange, a spacing bar or bars 12, 20, 22 or 30 is or are provided to space the panes 10, 24 apart, each bar (as bar 12) comprising a web, to be set a.t right angles to the panes, having two lateral flanges 13 lying on the same side of the web intermediate the longitudinal edges, the marginal portion 14 of each flange 13 remote from the web being turned in the direction of the adjacent pane 10 or 24 so that the flange 13 with its turned margin 14 and the portion 15 of the web outward of the flange together form a longitudinally extending channel 16 or trough receive a sealing and bedding medium for the adjacent pane 10 or 24. The bars 12, 22 are intended for the ends of panes and the web portions 15 extend further than the marginal portions 14 so as to position the ends of the panes 10, 24. The bars 20, to be placed wholly between the two panes, have web portions extending only the same distance as the flange marginal portions 26. The ends of the panes 10, 24 then rest against a stop 21. The panes are held firmly on the glazing bars 11 by wings 25 on the bars 11 which are secured down on to the panes 24. To position the bars 12 against the bar 11, a number of buttons 17 or dimples 18 may be provided along the length of the web. As shown in Fig. 3, two webs 30, 31 are joined by the flanges 32 to form channels 33 for the sealing medium, the webs being the same length to correspond with bar 20 or different lengths to correspond with bar 12 or 22.
