Abstract
766,277. Reinforced concrete. MARSDEN, A. Aug. 18, 1955 [Aug. 18, 1954], No. 24060/54. Addition to 752,874. Class 20(4) A reinforcement for mortar, or like structures, of the kind described in the parent Specification and built up from a series of steel strips 1 each of which is bent to form half hexagons which have sides 2, 3 and 4, and are separated by a length 5 of strip equal in length to a side 3, the sides 2, 4 being slightly shorter than the sides 3, is characterized in that the lengths 5 abutting the sides 3 are secured together to form a structure of honeycomb shape by means of staples 8 which are secured in a manner to permit the required amount of relative movement between adjacent strips 1. Pairs of holes 6, 7 are made in each length 5 and side 3, the arms 9, 10 of the stainless steel staples 8 being passed through the aligned holes 6, 7 'and then turned over. Holes 12 are made in the sides 2, 4 to permit the filling of mortar to join individual cells. If the surface for the reinforcement is flat the staples 8 should fit fairly tightly in their holes 6, 7, 'but if e.g. the reinforcement is to be part of a lining, or covering, for a pipe, or other curved surface, there must be enough play for the staples in their holes to permit the reinforcement to be bent to the required curvature.
