Abstract

765,938. Induction motors. BERESFORD & SON, Ltd., J. Aug. 12, 1954 [Aug. 22, 1953], No. 23193/53. Class 35. [Also in Group XXXVII] The relay controlling the starting winding of a submersible split-phase pump motor is energized by an auxiliary generator on the motor shaft. As shown, the starting winding 11 is cut out by bi-metallic contact G when the voltage of generator E is sufficient to give the necessary heating of element 15. Alternatively an electromagnetic relay may be used. The motor can have capacity in its circuit during starting only or permanently. The generator may have its output windings on salient-polepieces surrounding an imbricated pole permanent magnet on the motor shaft. Specifications 765,936 and 765,937 are referred to.
