765,605. Cabinets. STROCCO, G. Nov. 23, 1954, No. 33848/54. Class 52 (1). In a drop cabinet 20 for a sewing machine, the base 22 of the machine head 21 is pivoted by hinges 33 to the table top to be movable between a storage position and a horizontal position and is supported by an extensible mounting 40 comprising a variable length support 45 having crossed links 59, 60 pivoted at 61, 62 to a bracket bar 47 pivotally attached to base 22 and crossed links 63, 64 pivoted at 65, 66 to a bracket bar 49 pivotally attached to the cabinet, the other ends of the links being pivoted at 68, 72 to a block 69 mounted over a shaft 70 slidable therethrough and to a block 73 respectively. A spring-loaded member 46 including the shaft 70 cushions the lowering of the machine head and is releasably locked in the lowered position by a catch 95 but when released by depressing rod 105 projects the head upwardly to its operative position where the base 22 is held in position by the flap 29 having a lip 36 to engage the base.
