A bolt 12, e.g. for fixing an end-cap 11 to a connecting-rod 10, comprises a head 15 having diametrically - opposed splinedportions 18, the teeth of which cut into the wall of bore 20 to secure the bolt against rotation. The head has bevels 16, 17 and the shank has a screwed part 13 receiving a nut 14.
