Abstract

767,882. Nuts. BERNAU, F. W. Jan. 11, 1955 [July 12, 1954], No. 888/55. Class 89 (1). A nut, e.g. for securing a metal-pipe &c. to a ceramic wash-basin &c., comprises a screwthreaded body 1 secured to a disc 2 and having a longitudinal slot 3 through both body and disc and a diametrically-opposed slot 4 in the disc only. Projections 5, 6 extend from the body on both sides of the slot which is to receive a tool, e.g. a screwdriver, for widening the slot whereby the nut may be easily removed from its assembled position. In a modification, the slot does not extend completely through the body in a radial direction, thus leaving a thin web, readily broken by the tool, and slot 4 is omitted.
